Jurgen Klopp suggested good news about Liverpool star Roberto Firmino on Saturday.
Speaking to a press conference ahead of Monday’s trip to Wolves, Klopp said he was hopeful that Firmino would be available for the visit to Molineux.
The Brazilian star has missed Liverpool’s last two games with a knock that puts unnecessary pressure on Diogo Jota, who is only back from a three-month absence.
But it looks like Jota is set to continue to spearhead the Reds’ attack tomorrow night.
According to The Echo, Firmino sat out Liverpool training on Saturday and that must be considered a sign that he won’t be available to face Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
The former Hoffenheim star hasn’t trained at all since this injury and Klopp is very unlikely to restore him into his first XI without any recent sessions.
Liverpool fans would never celebrate a player’s misfortune but some supporters would prefer to see Jota up front, in any case.
As talented as Firmino is, six goals in 37 games this season is a big problem when you’re an attacking player and considering Klopp’s side already have a wider issue finding the net in recent weeks, the former Wolves man is a better option right now.
