Liverpool’s staff feel that Sadio Mane has been unfairly treated by referees this season, the Athletic report.

Mane has previously been accused of going down too easily by many observers, and the Liverpool man has often seen his appeals met by deaf ears this term.

Liverpool staff reportedly feel that officials have turned a blind eye to some challenges on Mane, which would have resulted in fouls on other players.

The update cites incidents at both Southampton and Newcastle United as clear penalties which weren’t given.

Liverpool staff now apparently believe this is part of the reason why Mane’s confidence has been dented.

The Senegalese international certainly hasn’t had his most productive season in front of goal.

Mane is usually so consistent for Liverpool, but he has only notched seven times in the Premier League this term.

His latest display against Real Madrid in the Champions League was a real concern too.

Mane has so often been Liverpool’s biggest menace on the grand occasion before, but he was completely out of sorts in midweek.

And Liverpool’s coaching team will now surely be looking to give Mane some confidence on the training ground, before what looks like a crucial run-in, as they chase a top four spot.
