Liverpool spent all of deadline day trying to get Loris Karius a new club – but the deadline passed without him leaving Anfield.
That’s according to The Telegraph (4:27pm), as they claim that Liverpool were desperately ringing around trying to get Karius out of Anfield.
That’s not intended in a mean way; just more that he has no role to play at Liverpool and after two loan spells, he needs a permanent home.
Karius hasn’t played for Liverpool since that Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in 2018, in which the German made a couple of huge errors.
Karius seemed to lose confidence after that, spending two years on loan at Besiktas, playing 67 times for the Turkish club.
The 28-year-old spent last term on loan at Union Berlin, but started just four games before heading back to Liverpool.

You could probably make a case for Karius being fifth-choice goalkeeper now, behind Alisson, Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher and even Marcelo Pitaluga.
It would take an unprecedented number of goalkeeping issues for Karius to be in consideration for a start, and he will likely sit in the Liverpool shadows until January.
The report does note that Karius was interested in being paid up for his final year, but Liverpool wouldn’t agree to that, meaning the final year of his contract could be a quiet one.
