Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp
Liverpool’s pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk has proved one thing – there’s money to spend and the Reds are willing to spend it on the right player.
However, with the Reds formally dropping their interest in the Dutch defender, they have turned their attention towards the Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson (The Sun).
Central defence is one area Jurgen Klopp is looking to bolster this summer, and while Gibson may not be the first choice target, he would represent a solid addition.

Gibson, 24, was ever present for Boro last season, but couldn’t prevent his side from dropping to the Championship. He is looking to continue playing at the top level, with several Premier League clubs vying for his signature.
The report suggests that West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the player, who would cost around £20 million.

Gibson is a left-footed, ball playing defender, and would be a handy replacement of Mamadou Sakho, who is likely to leave the Anfield club.
The Spurs are also keen to add a central defender to their ranks, and Gibson could be a solid addition to their already star-studded squad.
Although Gibson is a talented defender, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool, Tottenham or any other club are willing to match the price set by Boro.
