According to the Express, Liverpool are ready to make a £5m move to sign Fabio Carvalho, although they face competition from West Ham.

What’s the story?

Well, the Express believe Liverpool have been tracking the Fulham wonderkid, who is yet to sign a new contract.

As things stand, Carvalho will become a free agent in June, causing Jürgen Klopp and David Moyes to sniff around the situation.

If the 19-year-old refuses to sign a new deal, he will be available for a mere compensation fee in the summer, which could force Fulham to sell this month.

After all, the compensation tribunals can often be harsh – for example, Liverpool had to pay just £4.3m to Fulham after Harvey Elliott ran his contract down.

The Express believe Fulham are still angry about that situation.

So far this season, the England Under-18 international has scored seven goals in the Championship, while also providing two assists.

Interestingly, Football Talent Scout have likened Carvalho to Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe, due to his high levels of technical ability and goalscoring threat.

West Ham could hold advantage over Liverpool

The fact that Fulham are still angry about the situation involving Elliott and Liverpool is interesting to us.

As a result, you could argue that relations between the Cottagers and the Reds are not the best.

Therefore, they may be more willing to sell Carvalho to West Ham this month instead of Liverpool.

Having said that, if the Portugal-born wonderkid opts to run his deal down, then he can choose his next club and Fulham won’t have a say.

It’s certainly a tricky situation for Marco Silva.

Do Fulham potentially sacrifice millions just to keep Carvalho at Craven Cottage for six months, or will they cash in to avoid being humiliated at a tribunal again?

Only time will tell what happens, although if he does leave west London this month, one Premier League side is going to get an unbelievable talent.
