Liverpool and Manchester United are both reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid’s Isco in the summer.
The Reds are obviously still in the market for a long-term successor to Philippe Coutinho, who departed Merseyside for Barcelona last month, whilst United are looking to add further guile to their attacking play.
Diario Gol claim that Jürgen Klopp sees the Spaniard as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian, but he will face stiff competition from Jose Mourinho’s side in the summer.
Is Isco better suited to Liverpool or Manchester United?
The 25-year-old can operate anywhere along the front-line, and his ability to change positions during a match makes him the perfect signing for the Merseyside outfit, what with Klopp’s penchant for his forwards to interchange with each other.
Isco is technically gifted, and would bring that added dimension of quality and guile to Liverpool’s attacking play. His vision and eye for a killer pass would help fill the void left behind by Coutinho.
A switch to Old Trafford might be the more challenging option for Isco himself, however, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata already fighting for their place in the side.
It could be argued that Liverpool are more in need of someone with Isco’s skill-set, and he would surely prove to be a fantastic signing for them.
He is valued at £67.5 million, according to TransferMarkt, and in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, that would actually represent superb value for money.
