Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Porto midfielder Ruben Neves.
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have recently sent scouts to watch Porto’s teenage midfielder Ruben Neves.
Neves, 17, is one of the most highly rated midfielders in European football, and reportedly has a £29m release clause in his contract.
With 16 appearances for Porto this season, Neves is starting to feature under new manager Julen Lopetegui – and the Mirror also suggest that Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have been to Portugal in order to watch Neves in action.
Team mate Cristian Tello has already compared Neves to Barcelona star Sergio Busquets, and his performances appear to have attracted interest from Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool.
The Reds will need a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard given that the inspirational skipper will be moving on to LA Galaxy in the summer, and Neves could be that man.
The Mirror report that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Neves against Maritimo last weekend, with the Reds seemingly ramping up their pursuit of another holding midfielder.
Interest is growing in Neves, and Liverpool may need to move quickly if they do want to sign him – whilst Porto, who are under no pressure to sell, may look to hold out for that £29m release clause.
