Liverpool were reportedly trying to strike an agreement with Tottenham.

Liverpool have abandoned plans for a pre-season friendly at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium.
The Telegraph report the Reds accept it would be ‘inappropriate’, just weeks after the two teams plan in the Champions League final.
The pitch at Anfield will be relaid in late July due to music concerts being held weeks earlier, meaning it will be unavailable for the date Liverpool want to play an additonal pre-season friendly.
It is claimed Liverpool are considering holding a friendly at Murrayfield in Scotland instead, a venue more used to rugby matches.

Liverpool had not yet arranged opponents for the fixture they are planning.
It was always an odd decision to be looking to hold a fixture at the home of a Premier League rival. Tottenham were claimed to be open to the request, seeing it as a one off financial opportunity.
Now with the two teams facing off in the Champions League final, it’s the right decision.
Tottenham’s stadium is either the last place Liverpool would want to be, if they lose the final, and if they win, it would be a sickener for Spurs fans to see their opponents using their stadium as a ‘home’ ground.
Tottenham should recommend Liverpool give Wembley a try.
