Reds star Emre Can is demanding that his salary be doubled from £35,000 to £70,000 if he is to stay at Anfield, with Juventus currently monitoring his situation closely, according to the Mirror.

The Germany international has impressed for Jürgen Klopp’s side this term, making 21 Premier League appearances, and chipping in with three goals and two assists.

He moved to Merseyside from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £10 million, but his contract is due to expire in the summer of 2018, and the longer time goes on, the weaker position Liverpool will find themselves in.

And with the Mirror reporting that the 23-year-old midfielder is demanding a huge rise in salary, something has got to give, especially with clubs including Juve, Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig all interested in signing him in the summer.

Klopp will surely be extremely active in the summer transfer window, with a high turnover of players expected, and whether Can will be heading for the exit door remains to be seen, but if he is steadfast in his extortionate salary demands, there will surely be only one end to the story.
