According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are scouting Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford ‘regularly’ as they consider their options between the sticks.
The Reds brought in a goalkeeper last summer, as Jurgen Klopp returned to former club Mainz in order to land fellow German Loris Karius, who was rated as one of the Bundesliga’s top goalkeepers.
After displacing Simon Mignolet inside the opening two months of the season, Karius endured difficulties in the Liverpool goal, and was dropped in favour of Mignolet again in December.
With Mignolet far from the long-term answer for Liverpool and Karius’ future unclear, Liverpool continue to be linked with a number of other goalkeepers ahead of the summer transfer window – and Jordan Pickford can now be added to the list.
The Telegraph report that the Reds have been scouting Pickford regularly with a view to a possible move for the 22-year-old – though it’s stated that a move for Joe Hart may be more likely.
Pickford has come up through the ranks at the Stadium of Light, and after a host of impressive loan spells – most recently with Preston North End last season – he has become Sunderland’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The England Under-21 international has starred for the struggling Black Cats this season, and his key attributes – outstanding distribution, strong command of his area and superb shot-stopping ability – have unsurprisingly made him a target for top Premier League clubs.
However, with a move for Hart allegedly more likely, as the Manchester City-owned goalkeeper is set for a permanent move once he returns from his loan spell at Torino, Liverpool may not actually make a concrete move for Pickford at the end of the season, unless their plans change.
