According to Kicker, Liverpool recently ‘dealt’ with TSG Hoffenheim playmaker Christoph Baumgartner, who is starring at EURO 2020.

What’s the story?

Well, the German news outlet believe Baumgartner can put his name up in lights in England with a good display against Italy in London tonight.

Kicker claim that both Liverpool and Manchester United recently discussed a deal for the 21-year-old.

As a result, Kicker describe tonight’s game against Italy as having a personal touch for the 13-cap Austria international.

Baumgartner has impressed at EURO 2020 so far, scoring a vital winner against Ukraine to ensure Austria finished 2nd in Group C.

Now, he will go up against the early favourites to win EURO 2020, in what is a very big stage to announce himself on.

What type of player is Christoph Baumgartner?

If you’re wondering what type of player Baumgartner is, then wonder no more.

The Bundesliga’s official website describe his playing style as similar to Chelsea and Germany forward Kai Havertz.

Interestingly, the Bundesliga added that he could also be compared to Germany legend Michael Ballack.

In our view, this would be a great signing for Jürgen Klopp.

Baumgartner scored nine goals and provided seven assists from an attacking midfield role last season, which is pretty good.

The Horn-born maestro is also doing it in the Bundesliga, a division Klopp obviously knows well from his time at Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund.

In our view, he’d be an excellent signing to bring to Anfield.

Baumgartner is young, presumably wouldn’t cost an eye-watering amount, and has all the tools to fit Klopp’s system.
