Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are pushing for the signing of Brighton and Hove Albion playmaker Alexis Mac Allister this summer.
That is according to new claims from Argentinian reporter Cesar Luis Merlo.
Merlo claims that Liverpool and bitter rivals Manchester United are ‘bidding the most’ to land Mac Allister.
Merlo adds that Arsenal are looking at the situation but not really pushing for the midfielder’s signature right now.
It’s expected that Mac Allister will now leave Brighton at the end of the season and make a huge move.
Liverpool are firmly looking at a number of midfield options having backed away from the Jude Bellingham race.
Mac Allister would make sense for the Reds and their desperate need for midfield recruits may well see them attempt to overpower United in the race.

Alexis Mac Allister move could come early
The links suggesting Liverpool want Mac Allister are mounting at the moment.
Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that Liverpool had joined Chelsea and United in approaching Mac Allister’s agents.
Romano added that Mac Allister’s move could come ‘early’ in the summer window rather than at the end of it.
Romano suggested that Mac Allister is now very much expected to leave Brighton and he is planning for a move.
Hailed as ‘incredible’ by Brighton’s Adam Lallana, Mac Allister seems ready to take the next step in his career.
The 24-year-old has bagged eight goals and one assist in 26 Premier League games this season.
Add in a World Cup win and Mac Allister is certainly a rising talent with great quality – just what Liverpool need.
Beating United won’t be easy but Arsenal seemingly being a step or two behind is a welcome boost for the Reds as they chase a big midfield addition.
