Liverpool are close to signing Mohammed Salah in a club record deal, The Telegraph report, with claims a £38 million fee is close to being agreed.
This would be more than the £35 million they paid to sign Andy Carroll in 2012, a fee which has remained their highest ever spend.
Yet the Reds are not willing to stop there. The Telegraph report Liverpool are ready to eclipse the Salah deal by committing to an even bigger transfer this summer.
Two names cited are Virgil van Dijk of Southampton and Red Bull Leipzig’s Naby Keita, who are both valued within the £50 million range.

Breaking their transfer record not just once but twice would be a major statement of intent from Liverpool, and demonstration of the club putting money gained from Champions League qualification to good use.
Last time Liverpool qualified for the competition in 2014, the Reds were not ambitious enough in their spending, and Brendan Rodgers paid for it with his job just over a year later.
The Reds are in a situation where they cannot afford not to push the boundaries of their spending if they are compete in not just the Champions League but for the Premeir League next season too.
Salah could be just the start.
