The Southampton man is a reported summer transfer target for Liverpool.

According to a report from the Daily Star, Liverpool are lining up a shock summer move for Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in a more consistent backup for Alisson Becker.
Reds pair Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius face uncertain futures at Anfield, with the Telegraph reporting that Klopp is prepared to sell both of them this summer.
Any goalkeeper who joins Liverpool, however, will know that they are coming to serve purely as Alisson’s number two, and will most likely only feature in the domestic cup games.
And the Daily Star claims that that man could be Southampton stopper Alex McCarthy.
The 29-year-old joined Southampton from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016, and he has gone on to make 50 appearances for the south coast club.
McCarthy is a decent goalkeeper, but the 6ft 4in stopper’s potential arrival at Anfield will surely not be an exciting prospect for Liverpool fans.

He let in 44 goals in 25 Premier League appearances last season, keeping just four clean sheets.
And it could be argued that Liverpool might just be better off keeping either Mignolet or Karius, rather than selling both and bringing in McCarthy.
