Liverpool are reportedly prepared to battle Real Madrid for the AC Milan ace.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Liverpool are lining up a huge summer swoop for highly sought-after AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Jürgen Klopp will be determined to bolster his ranks at Anfield this summer, with the addition of a world-class stopper thought to be high on his agenda.

Many believe that a top class goalkeeper will be the missing piece of the puzzle for the Merseyside outfit, as they look to win their first league title since 1990.

Calcio Mercato claim that Liverpool have identified Donnarumma, 19, as one of their key summer targets, but he won’t come cheap.

According to Forza Italian Football, the Milan ace has a release clause of €70 million (£60.9 million) inserted into his current contract at the San Siro.

Whilst that does seem like an extortionate amount of money for a goalkeeper, in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, it would actually represent decent value, especially considering the fact that the Italian has at least 15 years ahead of him before he will begin to decline.

Donnarumma would be a sensational signing for Liverpool, and Klopp should do everything within his power to bring him to Anfield this summer.
