Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is on the verge of returning to the Bundesliga on another season-long loan deal, according to a report from BILD.

Almost everything Jurgen Klopp has touched at Liverpool has turned to gold but his first signing as Reds boss has yet to become a favoured squad member. Grujic has had loan spells at Red Star, Cardiff and, for the past two years, Hertha Berlin.

The Bundesliga outfit were linked with another loan move for the Serbian but it looks as though one of their rivals are favourite to sign him before the window closes today.

The report claims Grujic is on the verge of joining Werder Bremen on a season-long loan. It’s unclear whether a purchase option is included in the deal but it certainly seems as though he won’t spend this season at Anfield.

Grujic has played both of Liverpool’s EFL Cup games this season. The Serbian had a pretty good game against Arsenal last week as well but it’s unlikely he would displace Thiago Alcantara or Fabinho in the centre of Klopp’s midfield.

Still only 24, Grujic could change Klopp’s mind in a year’s time. The midfielder has almost three years left on his current deal but will have to perform better than he ever has in his reported loan spell to convince the Liverpool boss he’s good enough for the Reds’ first team.
