Italian outlet CMW report that Roberto Firmino has interest from both AC Milan and Juventus with the Brazilian’s contract due to expire at the end of the season – but there is also a possibility he could sign a new Liverpool contract.

The 31-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract, but is shining in a Liverpool shirt. While the club have brought in Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a club-record fee, it is Firmino that is starring for the Reds this season.

Clocking up 13 appearances so far, Firmino has scored eight goals and laid on four assists. That is, despite only starting nine of those 13 matches and completing 90 minutes only twice. An incredible record, and it is tempting Liverpool.

The report claims he could pen new terms at Anfield – but he has interest from Italy. Indeed, both Juventus and Divock Origi’s Milan want to sign him. But they are keeping tabs on the situation, with Liverpool potentially offering a deal.

Firmino could sign new Liverpool contract but has interest from Milan

It is a decision Firmino must make soon – given he can discuss a pre-contract from January 1. But it is a really tricky one, should he sign a new deal at Anfield? It risks the possibility that he might revert to the bench, as Nunez’s cover.

Liverpool would surely want to keep Firmino, one of the mainstays of Jurgen Klopp’s era at Anfield. But it all depends on whether Firmino would be happy acting as back-up. Something Origi decided that he had done enough.

It might also depend on what Liverpool want to do in terms of contract length. Whether they hand him another 12 months, or a couple of years. It remains to be seen. But a move to Milan, or Juve, would certainly be tempting.
