Liverpool are reportedly planning a new move for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

According to The Independent, Liverpool are preparing a move for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar – and believe he wants a move to Anfield.
Lemar, 22, has starred for Monaco since his 2015 move from Caen, exploding into life last season as he helped Leonardo Jardim’s men win the Ligue 1 title.
The Guadeloupe-born wide man hit 14 goals in all competitions, and whilst the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva and Kylian Mbappe all left the club, Lemar stayed despite interest from Arsenal.

The Independent report that Liverpool are now hoping to pip the Gunners to his signature by making a January move, which may cost around £90million to pull off.
It’s added that Liverpool believe Lemar wants a move to Anfield over joining Arsenal, with the Reds’ Champions League status understood to be a major factor, though he wouldn’t be able to play in this season’s competition having already featured for Monaco.
Liverpool anticipate another Barcelona pursuit for playmaker Philippe Coutinho, but whether Lemar really figures as a direct replacement is another matter entirely.

Lemar has mostly played as a wide man rather than centrally, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah already in Jurgen Klopp’s attack, and he may end up changing his role if Liverpool land him.
With two goals and three assists in 12 Ligue 1 games for Monaco this season, Lemar continues to produce, and he may feel that January is the right time to move on, with Liverpool seemingly waiting in the wings.
