Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport claim that Liverpool have tabled a ‘staggering’ offer to sign Morocco’s World Cup hero Sofyan Amrabat worth £67,000 a week – amid reports that Tottenham are also keen on landing the midfielder.

Amrabat, 26, is at the centre of a tug of war between the two Premier League clubs as we edge closer to the January window. The Morocco star is about to enter the last 18 months of his current contract at Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

But it is his form in Qatar that has caught the attention. Indeed, Amrabat has only played 78 times for Fiorentina since joining the club almost three years ago. He did spend the first six months of his Fiorentina spell on loan at Verona.

Indeed, for Morocco, he has been incredible. The midfielder has played every single minute of Morocco’s campaign, including all 120 minutes of the last 16 penalty-shootout win over Spain. Foot Mercato say Spurs are monitoring him.

The latest report from CDS, though, state that Liverpool have been in talks to sign the midfielder. They have made an offer, a deal worth £67,000 a week – more than double his current wage. Champions League football is said to appeal.

Liverpool have tabled staggering offer to sign Amrabat from Fiorentina

It is an intriguing one. Amrabat has been good, without being exceptional for Fiorentina. But quite clearly, he is able to produce so much more than he has done at Fiorentina – judging by his form at the World Cup with Morocco.

Liverpool do need a player like Amrabat. The club brought in Arthur on loan, but after one outing, he has picked up a big injury. He is likely to return to Juventus in January. So, bringing in a player like Amrabat will be crucial for the Reds.
