Liverpool are now interested in signing Alberto Moleiro from Las Palmas – however, the Reds face competition from Barcelona.

That is according to AS in Spain, who believe Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also targeting the 19-year-old sensation. He has a €30m (£26m) release clause written into his contract.

Barcelona have already bid for Liverpool target

Well, despite Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund sniffing around, it is Barcelona who seem most serious about signing the Liverpool target.

AS believe Moleiro has already been the subject of a bid from Barcelona, although it was rejected by Las Palmas.

At the time, Barcelona were unable to make an improved offer due to their financial situation, although the sudden retirement of Gerard Pique has freed up some funds for Xavi to reinvest.

AS add that Liverpool have received excellent scouting reports on Moleiro, with Jürgen Klopp himself said to be a huge fan of the teenager.

The Spanish news outlet also mention that they expect the Las Palmas No.10 to make plenty of headlines during the January transfer window, with four of Europe’s elite sides chasing his signature.

So far this season, Moleiro has made 13 appearances in La Liga 2 – Spain’s second division – providing three assists.

Liverpool can beat Barcelona to the new Pedri

Well, Barcelona have history when it comes to signing precocious talent from Las Palmas.

That is where the Catalans found Pedri, who was signed for just €5m (£4m) back in 2019.

The 19-year-old is now a regular for Barcelona and Spain – winning 14 caps for his country – while he has also lifted the Kopa Trophy as well as the Golden Boy award, the two main prizes given to the best youngster in Europe.

Therefore, if Moleiro is anything like Pedri, Liverpool must fight tooth and nail to bring him to Anfield.
