Liverpool are now interested in signing Adrien Rabiot after his contract with Juventus expires in 2023, amid rumours of FSG wanting to sell the Reds.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who believe Jürgen Klopp is eyeing a move for the France international next summer, when he will be leaving Juventus on a free transfer.

Liverpool want Adrien Rabiot

Well, the midfield department is a bit of a mess at Anfield, and Klopp believes Rabiot could ease his problems.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a productive season in Turin, scoring five goals in 14 appearances so far under Massimiliano Allegri.

Liverpool have suffered a number of issues in midfield this term, with the likes of Thiago often missing out due to niggling injuries, while Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also very fragile.

With Jordan Henderson and James Milner also not getting any younger, Klopp is in serious need of some fresh options in midfield, so it makes sense that Rabiot is being targeted.

It comes after Calciomercato revealed that Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle are also keen on the Frenchman, as Juventus cannot afford to tie him down to a new contract.

On his current terms, Rabiot earns £149,000-a-week.

Liverpool face huge Rabiot salary

Interestingly, Manchester United saw a summer move for Rabiot fail, despite offering to make him one of their highest earners alongside Bruno Fernandes, who receives £250,000-a-week.

That was according to The Athletic, who state that Rabiot’s mother Veronique – also his agent – requested an even larger salary, given what he could make when he reaches free agency.

Typically, a free agent receives an inflated salary due to the absence of a transfer fee – for example, Juventus handed Aaron Ramsey £400,000-a-week when picking him up after he left Arsenal.

Therefore, Liverpool will seemingly have to offer Rabiot far more than £250,000-a-week if they want to sign him ahead of the competition, which would surely cause dressing room unrest.

Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation – if Liverpool are taken over, the new owners may want to secure themselves a headline signing such as Rabiot.
