According to The Sunday Post (Post Match pullout, 20/06, p2), Liverpool are interested in raiding Aston Villa for midfielder John McGinn this summer.
McGinn played a key role as Scotland produced a superb performance against England on Friday, earning a 0-0 draw at Wembley Stadium.
He will now be looking to help Scotland beat Croatia on Tuesday, and he may have some very interested clubs taking a look at him.
What’s being said about Liverpool chasing McGinn?
It’s stated that McGinn has now worked his way onto Liverpool’s list of potential signings this summer having impressed for Aston Villa and Scotland.
There is a £20million-plus price tag mentioned, which allegedly wouldn’t deter Liverpool from making a move. Manchester United have also been linked of late.
£20million sounds extremely low for McGinn, with Villa under absolutely no pressure to sell; especially with McGinn tied down until 2025.
Dean Smith is also a huge fan of McGinn, branding him ‘exceptional’ in April, and he would hate to see his midfielder being sold.

Would McGinn fit in at Anfield?
It’s not hard to see why Liverpool would fancy McGinn. He’s a relentless runner with never-ending work rate, which is what Jurgen Klopp likes.
Liverpool could be in the market for a midfielder having allowed Gini Wijnaldum to leave this summer, so McGinn does make sense as a replacement.
At that price though, Liverpool surely stand no chance of signing McGinn; if we had to guess, it would surely take north of £40million to land the Scot, never mind £20million.
