Liverpool have made contact with Denis Zakaria’s agent, according to Oktob.

Liverpool could be looking to add a central midfielder, and Zakaria appears to be on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist.

Zakaria’s agents reportedly know all about the Reds interest, although a deal is still believed to be some way off.

Liverpool have not had any serious conversations with the player over coming to Anfield, and they have not started speaking to his current club, Borussia Monchengladbach, about a fee.

It could be that Zakaria is simply on a long-list of targets for Jurgen Klopp’s side currently, as Liverpool assess their options.

There is a feeling that Liverpool could look to strengthen their midfield in the summer and Zakaria could present a useful option.

The 23-year-old is still young enough to improve, but he is blessed with great strength and energy.

Zakaria is in a similar mould of midfielder to Fabinho, and he could give Liverpool a really solid platform to build their midfield around.

Sky Germany claim that it would cost £43 million for the Reds to sign the Swiss international this summer.

Good signing?

Zakaria’s arrival could help Liverpool become an even more impressive force next season.

The midfielder would add presence to their midfield ranks, and could even give Klopp the potential to change formation.

Liverpool are linked with a number of forward options, with Timo Werner thought to be near the top of their targets.

At the moment any attacker coming into Liverpool could struggle for game time, as Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane monopolise the positions.

But with Zakaria in the squad Klopp could even change to a 4-2-3-1 formation, and his potential partnership with Fabinho or Jordan Henderson in defensive midfield would be rock solid.
