Liverpool face big competition for the signing of Premier League midfielder Youri Tielemans as Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly enter the race for the midfielder.
According to Voetbal 24, the European giants are keen on the £40m-rated Leicester City star. Tielemans, who Brendan Rodgers has labelled ‘incredible’ in the past, has long been rumoured with a move to Liverpool.
The Belgian international has two years remaining on his current deal with the Foxes. However, reports in recent weeks seem to indicate that Tielemans won’t renew with the Premier League side.
Indeed, Voetbal 24 states that Tielemans is eager to make a move up in the world of football. Moreover, Liverpool are just one of the sides around Europe who are keen to sign the former AS Monaco star.
However, with Atletico and Bayern now keen on Tielemans, Liverpool face an uphill battle. As per the report, Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on the 24-year-old. The midfielder could become a prized target next summer if he doesn’t renew.
Whilst some big European clubs are now keen on Tielemans, Liverpool are far from out of the race just yet. After all, the Merseyside giants has some of the strongest pulling power in the Premier League and the continent at large.
Liverpool have got to step up pursuits for Tielemans
The main talking point over the summer amongst Liverpool fans was who was going to come in to replace Georginio Wijnaldum. However, as we know, nobody came in to succeed the Netherlands international.
Indeed, whilst Liverpool have done brilliant this season without him, an extra quality midfielder could make the Reds unstoppable. And in Tielemans, Jurgen Klopp will have just that in the centre of the park.
