According to the Mirror, Liverpool are now expecting Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract worth £400,000-a-week.
What’s the story?
Well, if true, this is massive news.
Salah becomes a free agent in June 2023, and with negotiations stalling over salary disagreements, this summer would be Liverpool’s last chance to sell their talisman, or they risk losing him for nothing in 2023.
However, it now looks as if the Egypt international will stay at Anfield.
Salah’s new deal will see him earn eight times as much as Andy Robertson, who makes £50,000-a-week, while also putting him £180,000-a-week above Liverpool’s current highest earner, Virgil van Dijk (Spotrac).
It’s a mind-boggling amount of money, but with 28 goals in 38 games this season, the 29-year-old deserves to be recognised for his amazing displays.
Mohamed Salah could upset Liverpool balance

As aforesaid, Salah has arguably been the best player in Europe this season, so he deserves a significant pay rise.
However, in terms of squad morale at Liverpool, a few of his teammates may be knocking on the door of Jürgen Klopp to ask questions.
For example, as good as Salah is, he isn’t eight times as good as Robertson, who is arguably the best left-back on the planet.

For him to be earning just £50,000-a-week – in the context of Premier League football, of course – is actually hard to believe, so he, and maybe others, could demand pay rises of their own
It would be wonderful news for Liverpool if they can tie Salah down, but doing so may lead to many more contractual disputes at Anfield.
