According to a report from Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Liverpool remain interested in signing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, and the La Liga side could now be tempted to sell for a reduced fee of €90 million (£78.7 million).

The 25-year-old is widely considered to be one of the continent’s best goalkeepers, after impressing on a consistent basis for Atleti since making his £12.6 million switch to Spain in 2014.

Don Balon claims that the Reds remain keen on signing the Slovenia international, and might not have to pay his £87.4 million release clause.

Good signing for Liverpool?

Oblak is undoubtedly one of the best stoppers in world football, and he would make a huge difference to the Reds.

The Merseyside outfit’s goalkeeping problems have been well-documented, and if they are to make a sustained push for the Premier League title next season, they quite simply must address the Loris Karius issue.

The Atleti man is a physically commanding goalkeeper, and possesses fantastic organisational skills.

He is the kind of player who would take Liverpool to another level, and if they manage to bring him to Anfield this summer, they would surely be considered as Manchester City’s closest challengers for the Premier League title.
