According to The Athletic, Thiago is still getting used to Jurgen Klopp’s counter-pressing style at Liverpool.

It has been reported that a source close to Liverpool has said that Thiago’s understanding of how to press under Klopp is still falling short and is not at the same levels as those of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Disappointing Liverpool spell so far

Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 and was expected to be a massive hit at Anfieid.

The Spain international central midfielder suffered a long-term injury during the Merseyside derby against Everton in October.

While the 29-year-old has done well on occasions since his return to full fitness, like against RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek, he has not exactly been great overall.

It can take a while for players to get used to Klopp’s pressing system, and it must also be noted that he had a long-term injury.

It is never easy for any footballer to hit the ground running after recovering from injury.

Perhaps next season Thiago will be at his best and show the Liverpool fans exactly what he is capable of.

According to WhoScored, the 29-year-old central midfielder has made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played twice in the Champions League for Liverpool so far this season
