Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo will be out of action for three to four months due to injury, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo to undergo surgery

The report published this evening has claimed that Liverpool midfielder Arthur will undergo surgery this weekend.

The Brazil international midfielder, signed on loan from Juventus in the summer transfer window, suffered an injury during training at the AXA Training Centre on Monday.

Arthur subsequently missed the UEFA Champions League match against Rangers in midweek.

And now it has been reported that Arthur has suffered a ‘devastating setback’ and will not play for up to four months.

Big blow

It will be a big blow for Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo if he is unable to play for four months.

The Brazilian has struggled to make an impact at Anfield, and now he seems to have suffered a long-term injury.

It is really hard to see Arthur do much of note for Liverpool this season.

It takes time for a player to recover match fitness after a lengthy injury lay-off, and we do not think that he will get a run of games straightaway after coming back from injury.
