According to The Athletic, Liverpool mentioned three of their current players to Fabio Carvalho during negotiations with the youngster.
Carvalho is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now, and on deadline day, Liverpool very nearly managed to bring him to Anfield.
However, the deal fell apart due to the fact Liverpool left it too late, and now, Carvalho’s options are wide open.
Fortunately for the Reds, they’ve made strides in negotiating with Carvalho with their near-miss on Monday.
According to The Athletic, they tried to convince Carvalho that Liverpool was the best club for him by pointing towards Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott as examples of young players who’ve been given opportunities under Jurgen Klopp.
While Carvalho will understandably want a decent pay packet when he does move, money reportedly isn’t the only motivation for the teenager.
Indeed, The Athletic report that Carvalho wants to join a club where he will get opportunities, and Liverpool have tried to convince the attacking midfielder that they’re the right club for him by pointing towards their three recent success stories.
The fact that Liverpool pointed towards Elliott as an example of a player who has had chances at Anfield will surely pique Carvalho’s interest.
Indeed, Elliott and Carvalho were once teammates in Fulham’s youth system and if Carvalho backs himself to be better than Elliott, he will fancy his chances of getting similar opportunities if he moves to Liverpool.
