According to Goal, Liverpool may now face a big problem in their pursuit of Fulham wonderkid Fabio Carvalho.

What’s the story?

Well, according to The Athletic, Liverpool agreed a £7m deal with Fulham for the 19-year-old, who also completed a medical with the Reds.

However, Liverpool ran out of time to complete the paperwork, but they remain hopeful of finalising things in the summer.

Now, Chelsea could ruin things.

Goal believe the Blues have expressed an interest in hijacking the transfer, while Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on Carvalho.

While the German duo are attractive destinations, it’s Thomas Tuchel’s side who should concern Jürgen Klopp the most.

Chelsea and Fulham are west London neighbours, so a move to Stamford Bridge may appeal to Carvalho if he doesn’t want a complete upheaval of his personal life.

Fabio Carvalho should choose Liverpool

In our view, Carvalho should join Liverpool despite interest from Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The rise of Harvey Elliott proves that Klopp isn’t afraid to throw youngsters in at the deep end if he thinks they’re good enough.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones are further examples of why Anfield is a fantastic place for prospects to develop.

In Chelsea’s case, they have a bit of a reputation for hoovering up precocious talents without a clear plan for them in the first-team.

Of course, staying in west London might suit Carvalho from a personal viewpoint.

However, if he prioritises his footballing career, he would be foolish to reject a move to Liverpool.
