Liverpool are heading for a tribunal with Fulham over the signing of youngster Harvey Elliott.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Premier League champions and the Championship promotion-chasers are miles apart in their valuation of the player.
They say Liverpool have offered £750,000 by way of compensation for the teenage midfielder, who recently signed his first professional contract with the Reds.
But Fulham reportedly want 10 times that amount – £7.5 million – and are willing to hold out until the tribunal to get that cash.
Elliott may well have played a prominent role in Fulham’s Championship promotion bid had he stayed in London, but elected to join the European champions to further his development.
He is part of a hugely exciting crop of young players coming through at Anfield right now, and they have the perfect manager to mentor them in Jurgen Klopp.
Even £7.5 million should look like a bargain in the current marketplace for a young English talent with the world at his feet.
This issue appears to have some legs, and Liverpool are no stranger to this scenario, having paid tribunal fees for strikers Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke in the past.
