According to Read Liverpool, Liverpool have now made contact with the representatives of West Ham United right back Jeremy Ngakia ahead of a potential move.
It’s claimed that Liverpool have asked Ngakia’s entourage what the right back is looking for this summer. A number of clubs are believed to be keen, with Tottenham also mentioned in this report.
However, a deal with Liverpool seems unlikely. That’s because Liverpool received an emphatic response to their enquiry; that Ngakia wants to play regular first-team football with his next club.
That won’t be happening at Liverpool. They already have one of the top right backs in the world in Trent Alexander-Arnold, whilst Neco Williams is expected to be involved more next season.
Ngakia’s contract at West Ham ends later this month. Despite West Ham attempting to secure a new deal, Ngakia seemingly views his future elsewhere as things stand.
Ngakia hasn’t even committed to signing a short-term extension, meaning he could be free to move on from the 1st of July. That’s not an ideal situation for West Ham, but a move to English club would be preferable if he is to leave.

If Ngakia leaves for a non-English club, West Ham will receive a very small compensation fee. Yet if a club like Liverpool or Tottenham make a move, then West Ham can demand millions in compensation.
Whilst Liverpool are tough to turn down, especially right now, it seems that Ngakia won’t be heading to Anfield – but West Ham’s task will be even harder if clubs like Liverpool are keen.
