According to German newspaper Sport Bild, Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Schalke defender Ozan Kabak.
It’s claimed that the Reds have already initiated contact with Schalke to discuss a potential deal for the centre back.
Jurgen Klopp is thought to be a fan, and has identified him as a potential replacement for Dejan Lovren this summer.
Lovren is set to leave Liverpool for Zenit St Petersburg in the coming days, and the Reds would want another centre back to replace him.
Kabak appears to be a top target, and would be joining another ex-Schalke defender at the club in Joel Matip.
What’s interesting is that Schalke need cash, and the €45million (£41million) release clause in his contract only kicks in next summer.

That means that Liverpool may be able to negotiate a lower fee with Schalke, landing a potential bargain for Kabak by pouncing on Schalke’s financial issues.
Kabak, 20, showed real promise with Galatasaray and Stuttgart before joining Schalke last summer, where he has hit three goals and one assist in 26 league games.
Kabak is part of the rise of Turkish centre backs alongside Caglar Soyuncu and Merih Demiral, and he could now head to Liverpool in what would be a huge step forward for his career.
