Liverpool are reportedly set to miss out on midfielder Leon Goretzka.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool fear that they have missed out on Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka as Bayern Munich close in on his signature.
The Reds have had a busy month, first bringing in defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a club-record deal before selling star playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita arriving in the summer, and Liverpool were seemingly hoping to bring in another Bundesliga midfield maestro at the end of the season.

The Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool were looking to snap up Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, but now believe they will lose out in the race for his signature.
It’s claimed that Liverpool have made contact with Goretzka, but barring a late change of heart, he is set to join Bayern Munich on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Goretzka’s contract expires this summer, meaning he can leave Schalke for nothing, and whilst Liverpool had been hoping to land a bargain, Bayern look set to win the race.

The 22-year-old impressed last season with eight goals in 41 outings, and has notched four goals in 11 Bundesliga games this season, whilst he even has six goals in 12 Germany caps.
Goretzka has unsurprisingly attracted major interest given that he can be signed for nothing this summer, but Liverpool will now have to look elsewhere if they want a midfielder, with Goretzka on his way to Bayern.
