Liverpool are reportedly interested in the Portuguese ace.

Reports emanating from Portugal today suggest that the Reds are lining up a swoop for Sporting Lisbon ace Gelson Martins, amid fears that Mohamed Salah could be tempted by a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to Portuguese media outlet A Bola.
Liverpool brought the Egyptian to Anfield from Roma in the summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £34 million, and the 25-year-old has begun his career on Merseyside in scintillating fashion, scoring 17 goals in 21 outings for Jürgen Klopp’s men.
Unfortunately for the Reds though, his superb displays have not gone unnoticed, with Los Blancos keen on bringing him to the Bernabeu, according to A Bola.

Whilst Liverpool will surely resist any kind of approach from the European champions for their star man, it is sometimes hard to keep hold of a player when Madrid come calling.
And A Bola claim that that Klopp has identified Martins as a potential replacement for Salah, should the Egyptian leave Anfield.

The 22-year-old plays predominantly as a wide right attacker, and has a release clause inserted in his current deal with Sporting believed to be in the region of £53.5 million.
In an ideal world, Liverpool would keep hold of Salah, and bring Martins to the club, but whether Klopp will be given the financial backing to secure the signing of the Portuguese ace remains to be seen.
