Divock Origi could seal a move away from Premier League giants Liverpool by the weekend with Tuttomercatoweb reporting that AC Milan have agreed a £55,000-a-week deal with the striker.

In January, Rossoneri legend Demetrio Albertini encouraged the Serie A leaders to make Origi one of their top summer targets.

“(Zlatan) Ibrahimovic’s heir must be identified and purchased,” Albertini said.

“Milan has to focus on forwards who are strong but (struggling for games) at their club. I think of Liverpool’s Origi. He would score a lot in Serie A.”

Next season, the Belgium international will have the opportunity to prove Albertini’s hypothesis.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Origi has reached an ‘agreement in principle’ over a move to the San Siro when his Liverpool contract expires in July.

The Anfield supersub will sign a four-year deal, keeping him at the seven-time European champions until 2026. What’s more, Origi will earn £55,000-a-week in Italy.

Is Divock Origi right to leave Liverpool for Milan?

The next step, TMW say, is for directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara to rubber stamp the signing with Milan’s board.

The deal may be done within the next 72 hours, meaning Origi could be a Milan player by the time the weekend is underway.

Of course, the former Wolves target will have to wait another couple of months before he can announce himself on the hallowed San Siro turf.

Liverpool have a quadruple to fight for. And Origi, so often Jurgen Klopp’s man for the big occasion, could still have a major part to play with domestic and European silverware up for grabs.

“Divock Origi is a legendary figure at Liverpool,” former Anfield ace Jamie Carragher told MNF the striker scored a trademark, stoppage-time winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December.

“It’s not because everyone thinks he’s a great player, it’s because of the great goals he’s scored.”

Milan will be hoping for some of those ‘great goals’ next season.
