Fulham and Cardiff City are both said to be chasing the Liverpool defender’s signature on loan.

Fulham and Cardiff City may have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne, according to the Daily Mirror (December 6 liveblog, 02:34).

The newspaper reports that both Fulham and Cardff are keen to take Clyne on loan from the Reds in January.

But it adds that Liverpool are leaning towards keeping him at Anfield as he continues his recovery from injury.

Clyne has only appeared once for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season – during September’s 2-1 EFL Cup defeat against Chelsea – and has seen Trent Alexander-Arnold seize the initiative in his position.

The South London native began his career at Crystal Palace and may favour a return to the capital with Fulham if he is allowed to leave Liverpool.

The Reds are said to have paid £15.5 million to sign the England international from Southampton in 2015.

Should Liverpool allow Clyne to join Fulham or Cardiff City in January?
