Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in scouting Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is according to Dutch reporter Marcel van der Kraan, who has been speaking on De Telegraaf ‘s Kick-Off podcast.
Van der Kraan claims that ‘more and more top clubs’ are trying to sign Orkun Kokcu this summer.
Van der Kraan suggests that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been scouting Feyenoord with Kokcu in mind.
“I also think that more and more top clubs are looking at him,” says Van der Kraan. “In recent weeks, the stands at Feyenoord have been filled with scouts from the top six of the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Liverpool; everyone had scouts. I think the battle for Kökcü’s signature will be very interesting,” he added.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag should know Kokcu well having witness his development in the Netherlands.
Liverpool certainly need midfield reinforcements this summer and Kokcu – who is on the verge of winning the Eredivisie title – could help Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Tottenham can’t be ruled out though and The Mirror reported in April that Spurs were scouting Kokcu.
Daniel Levy is paying very close attention to Feyenoord right now – and he may have a dream double move in mind.
Tottenham could land Arne Slot and Orkun Kokcu
Spurs have been showing a real interest in landing Feyenoord boss Arne Slot this summer.
A replacement for Antonio Conte is needed and Slot is emerging as a strong candidate.
90Min suggested in April that Tottenham would like to speak to Slot about a move to North London.
Slot is currently focused on winning the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord currently in top spot.
Kokcu is the current Feyenoord captain and an absolute vital part of the Feyenoord machine right now.
Slot absolutely loves Kokcu, hailing him as ‘dominant’ earlier this season having turned in superb displays.
If Slot does take the Tottenham job, you can be sure that he would love to take Kokcu with him.
Liverpool joining the race is a concern but there is a real chance to Spurs to secure a double raid on Feyenoord by snatching Slot and Kokcu.
