Liverpool have an interest in signing Gambian attacker Adama Bojang and have joined Chelsea in the race.

Adama Bojang is attracting more and more Premier League interest with Liverpool now joining the battle for him.

That is according to The Guardian, who claim that Liverpool are now in the mix to sign Bojang.

It’s claimed that a raft of Premier League clubs are interested with Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers keen.

Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are tracking Bojang too with the race heating up for the teenager’s signature.

Additionally, Gambia Football Federation vice-president Bakary Jammeh indicated in March that Tottenham are trying to sign Bojang.

Bojang currently plays for Steve Biko FC in Gambia and is thought to be available for just €3million (£2.5million).

Liverpool may now see Bojang as a talent for the future, possibly with the idea of loaning him out and seeing how he develops.

Liverpool may see Adama Bojang as a new Taiwo Awoniyi

This does feel similar to Liverpool’s move to sign Taiwo Awoniyi back in 2015.

Awoniyi impressed for Nigeria with two goals at the 2015 Under-20 World Cup, prompting Liverpool’s interest and eventual deal.

Bojang featured at this year’s edition of the Under-20 World Cup, scoring two goals – just like Awoniyi.

Bojang also hit four goals in the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

There are clear parallels there and we can understand why Liverpool may be keen.

Awoniyi never actually made an appearance for Liverpool but, after a series of loan spells, was sold to Mainz and is now at Nottingham Forest.

Awoniyi has shown real talent in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in 27 games for Forest.

Bojang could become a similar talent and Liverpool may see even more potential in the 19-year-old.

The Reds would love to beat Chelsea in this transfer race and £2.5million could become an absolute bargain down the line.
