Liverpool could launch a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Conor Coady.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady – having sold him in 2014.
Coady, 25, was born in Liverpool, supported Liverpool as a boy and came up through the Liverpool ranks, but his Anfield dreams were dashed.
Brendan Rodgers allowed Coady to move on to Huddersfield Town in 2014 after a loan spell with Sheffield United, and he spent just one year at Huddersfield before heading on to Wolves.
In his first couple of seasons with Wolves, Coady wasn’t exactly a star in midfield, but it all changed when Nuno Espirito Santo became Wolves boss in 2017.
Nuno converted Coady to play as a centre back in his three-man Wolves back line, and he not only skippered Wolves to the Championship title last season, but has excelled in the Premier League this term.
Coady now appears to be playing his best football, and the Daily Mail report that Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in prising Coady away from Molineux this year.
Wolves want to offer their captain a new contract to stay, but they must acknowledge themselves that he may be tempted by a return to his boyhood club as Jurgen Klopp allegedly plots a shock move.
From Liverpool’s perspective, Coady would offer more competition in the centre back role, which has been a problem for Klopp this season, as well as providing another option in midfield – and Wolves will be hoping that they can sort out a new deal before Liverpool firm up their interest.
