Liverpool have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

According to French outlet Telefoot, Liverpool are interested in signing Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his goalkeeping ranks this summer.

The Reds’ defence has arguably been the only reason that Klopp’s men currently find themselves 10 points back of current Premier League leaders Chelsea. Neither of their two goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have really cemented themselves as a stopper that the manager can rely on in the coming years.

That has seemingly prompted Klopp to look to potential targets for the end of the season, with Telefoot reporting that Mandanda is on his radar to provide competition for Mignolet.

Despite the 32-year-old being a France international, it is difficult to imagine that his arrival will be particularly warmly received amongst the Anfield faithful given the year he has had at Crystal Palace.

Mandanda has not played for the Eagles since November. And while a long-term injury was what saw him lose his place in the side, he is yet to get back into the starting lineup since then meaning that he has not played for the club since Sam Allardyce arrived in December.

But perhaps his arrival will make more sense if Klopp views him as a decent back-up option to put some pressure on Mignolet in the hope that a deal would bring the best out of the Belgian.
