According to A Bola, Liverpool intend to sell Marko Grujić this summer once his loan spell with FC Porto has come to an end.
The Portuguese news outlet claim that it will be a ‘difficult’ deal for the Liga NOS outfit to pull off.
A Bola add that FC Porto are not expecting to be able to sign Grujić for under €10 million (£8.6 million).
That would at least see Liverpool land a profit on the Serbian, who they signed from Red Star Belgrade for £5.1 million in January 2016.
Sadly for the 25-year-old, he has endured the same treatment as Harry Wilson.
The Reds have sent Grujić out on loan a number of times. He’s been shipped back to Belgrade, as well as to Cardiff, Hertha Berlin and now FC Porto.
In total, he’s only made 16 appearances for Liverpool, which is incredibly low for someone who arrived at Anfield over five years ago.
With only one goal in 35 appearances this season, it seems unlikely that there’ll be a clamour for his signature.
In that respect, Liverpool shouldn’t expect to receive too much more than the aforementioned £8.6 million, in our view.
It will be a shame to see Grujić go, as he seemed like such a bright prospect.
After scoring on his debut against Fleetwood, Klopp described the moment as ‘a dream’ while also expressing surprise at the passion shown by the midfielder after he scored.
The Liverpool Echo quote Klopp as saying: “He scored his first goal, which was very nice to see; first goal, first situation, it’s a dream. You don’t see a player celebrate like him in a friendly game very often!”
In our view, it’s unlikely that Grujić will develop much more at 25 years of age.
In that respect, it makes sense for Liverpool to cash in and reinvest the money elsewhere.
