Liverpool are holding talks over signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to The Manchester Evening News.
It has been reported that Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs who are in talks with Varane’s camp.
The France international central defender is out of contract at Madrid at the end of next season.
The report has claimed that the defending La Liga champions are ready to sell Varane for £60 million this summer.
Varane is one of the best centre-backs in the world and is a serial winner.
The 28-year-old, who has won the La Liga title thrice and the Champions League on four occasions with Madrid so far, is at the top of his game and would form a brilliant partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence.
Varane – who Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said on Twitch in March that he always finds “tough” to play against – is quick, very good on the ball, defends strongly, and reads the game well.

Signing Varane would be a coup for Liverpool.
However, with United also reportedly in the race, it may not be easy for Liverpool to convince the 28-year-old to move to Anfield this summer.
The France international, who won the World Cup in 2018, is used to playing and winning the Champions League, and Liverpool may not even be playing in Europe’s premier club competition next season.
