According to Spanish newspaper AS, Liverpool are interested in signing Atletico Madrid left back Theo Hernandez – and could better Real Madrid’s offer for him.

The Reds’ problems at left back have been well-documented this season, as Alberto Moreno’s disastrous showing against Arsenal on the opening day of the season led manager Jurgen Klopp to play midfielder James Milner at left back instead.

Milner has been steady in his makeshift role, but with Moreno having little future at Anfield, signing another left back should be a priority for Klopp at the end of the season.

Now, Spanish newspaper AS report that Liverpool are keen to land Atletico Madrid starlet Theo Hernandez, though some of Europe’s elite are also keen.

It’s claimed that Bayern Munich are interested in landing the Frenchman, whilst Atletico’s city rivals Real Madrid are also believed to be in the race for Hernandez’s signature.

However, Liverpool are described as being ‘in a strong position’ to sign Hernandez, as they could offer the left back three times the wages Real Madrid are currently prepared to pay him.

The 19-year-old has been on the books with Atletico since 2007 alongside his brother Lucas, and is currently out on loan at La Liga rivals Alaves in order to give him valuable first-team experience.

A France Under-20 international, Hernandez is a pacey, attack-minded left back who has been tipped for a big future, and Liverpool are allegedly looking to sign him – but will be hoping for more success than the last young left back they signed from a La Liga club; the aforementioned Moreno.
