Victor Osimhen is still intrigued by a move to the Premier League despite being on the verge of joining Napoli, with Alfredo Pedulla claiming that the striker’s new agent has already held talks with Liverpool.

Try as they might, the Serie A giants just cannot get one of the summer’s biggest transfer deals over the line.

Earlier this week, it seemed only a matter of time before Osimhen followed in the footsteps of Gonzalo Higuian, Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens by moving to the Stadio San Paolo in a mega-money deal.

But then he changed his agent. And, suddenly, Napoli found themselves all the way back to square one.

“Osimhen is a very good player, but there are lots of other teams who want him and we’re working on other fronts too,” sporting director Cristiano Guintoli told Goal.

“He changed his agent, so now we have to start all over again. It’s a complex and difficult set of negotiations.”

Pedulla has shed more light on the situation today, saying that the Lille sensation has not exactly turned his back on Napoli with negotiations over an initial £45 million deal still ongoing.

But a change of representatives appears to have left the door ajar to Liverpool.

His new agent, William D’Avila, has already held talks with the Merseyside giants, knowing that an old-school number nine who ‘looks like Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘ is finding the lure of English football difficult to ignore.

Sky reported as far back as December that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Osimhen.

And, having plundered 18 goals in a stunning debut season across the Channel, the Nigeria international could give the Premier League champions something very different in the final third – the kind of bullish targetman that Liverpool are currently lacking.
