Liverpool are pulling out all of the stops to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer.
The Reds are seemingly desperate to bring the Borussia Dortmund star to Anfield, and according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenburg, the Reds have made a compelling case to Bellingham.
Indeed, the journalist says that Liverpool have offered Bellingham the chance to become the ‘new Steven Gerrard’ at Anfield, and that is an opportunity that Bellingham may well want to consider.
Of course, the England international has the pick of basically any club in Europe this summer, but this is an opportunity at Liverpool that may be too good to turn down.
Being offered the role of the ‘new Steven Gerrard’ is huge for a player who is just 19 years old. It’s a commitment from Liverpool to build their entire team around Bellingham for years to come and the chance for the England international to potentially captain one of the most successful club sides in European football.

Real Madrid appear to be the biggest rivals to Liverpool for this player’s signature, and they simply can not offer Bellingham this sort of assurance.
Madrid never know who their manager is going to be season-on-season, nevermind who their midfielders will be, but if you’re Bellingham looking at this Madrid team you have to be wondering what your role will be.
With Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde already at the club, Madrid seem to already have their next generation midfield trio nailed down – Bellingham could be a factor in that, but he wouldn’t be guaranteed the lynchpin role as he is being offered at Liverpool.
Bellingham has what it takes to be a superstar in this sport, but at Madrid he wouldn’t be seen as a once in a generation player, he’d be one of 18 in the squad on a weekly basis, while Liverpool have told him he’s going to be their main man going forward if he’ll sign.
The idea of being the new Gerrard at Anfield may appeal hugely to Bellingham, and it’s something he should definitely consider.
