It has been reported that Liverpool have ‘opened talks’ to complete a transfer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

This comes from GOAL Brasil, as Jurgen Klopp’s men eye an overhaul in the middle of the park ahead of next season.

It seems like Bruno Guimaraes seems to have become the primary target for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool open talks to wrap up Bruno Guimaraes transfer

The Brazilian international has been magnificent in his first full season at St. James’ Park, playing a vital role in his side’s Champions League qualification.

Branded as ‘really talented’ by Alan Shearer via the Shields Gazette, the 25-year-old has only taken a step forward this campaign since joining the club in January.

Now, a report has claimed that Liverpool have indeed opened talks to sign Bruno Guimaraes in the summer.

However, Barcelona have also ‘made contact’ to bring the former Lyon lynchpin to the Spotify Camp Nou.

While Guimaraes’ representatives are aware about the interest from both European giants, the player’s preference remains to sign the contract on the table from the Magpies.

Guimaraes would be the perfect signing for the Reds

Bruno Guimaraes is easily one of the most complete midfielders in the Premier League and at Liverpool, he would end up being a smash hit.

Guimaraes is a natural No.8, and due to his knack of creating chances, he is exactly what the Reds need, as their midfield in particular lacks creativity.

The control that the highly-rated technician would add to Klopp and Co. would help them dominate games more effectively during Thiago’s usual injury-stricken absences as well.

While Bruno Guimaraes would also add legs to Liverpool’s midfield, which has also been missing in their ranks.

Despite the improvement in Fabinho’s displays at the end of the season, he has largely endured a woeful campaign.

Luckily enough for Liverpool, if the move does end up transpiring, Guimaraes has operated as a No.6 and thrived this season, which makes him the perfect signing, in case a transfer becomes a reality.
