According to a report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, and have made a ‘powerful offer’ for the Frenchman.

The 23-year-old is out of contract with the Ligue 1 giants in the summer of 2019, after refusing to agree terms on a new deal to keep him at the Parc des Princes.

The Reds already have a plethora of central midfield options, but the opportunity to sign a player of Rabiot’s ilk on a free transfer in the summer might just be too good to turn down.

Mundo Deportivo claims that both Liverpool and Barcelona are keen on signing the France international, but the Merseyside outfit have taken the lead in the race for his signature, after making a ‘powerful offer’ for his services.

Rabiot is a cultured, deep-lying midfielder by trade, and he really is of the very highest quality. He would provide Jürgen Klopp with an entirely different option in the middle of the park, what with his creative guile and exceptional passing ability.

The PSG ace really would be a superb signing for Liverpool…especially on a free transfer.
