Liverpool have discussed the possibility of signing West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian as they look for a back-up option to replace Simon Mignolet this summer, according to Goal.

Mignolet has spent the last six years at Anfield but is expected to bid farewell this summer after losing his place, first to Lorus Karius and then to the Premier League’s Golden Glove winner Alisson Becker.

And there could be a rather surprise name coming in to replace the Belgian international on Merseyside.

Like Mignolet, Adrian did not made a single Premier League appearance across the 2018/19 campaign, relegated to the bench after Lukasz Fabianski arrived at West Ham. And the veteran Spaniard looks certain to leave the London Stadium this summer when his contract expires.

And, according to Goal, Liverpool are pondering over making the free agent one of their most surprising signings in recent seasons. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are also eyeing Adrian, who joined West Ham on a free transfer from Real Betis back in 2013.

It remains to be seen whether Adrian would be willing to spend another season at least warming the bench but a move to Liverpool might simply be too good to turn down.
