According to Sport, Liverpool have been in touch with Serge Gnabry’s representatives as they weigh up a transfer move for the German winger.
The Reds may well be in the market for a new winger after letting Sadio Mane and Divock Origi leave the club, and with Takumi Minamino seemingly also on his way out, reinforcements are needed.
Liverpool have, of course, already done some business with Bayern Munich this summer, and now, they’re keen to take Gnabry off the German giants’ hands.
The Reds have been linked with Gnabry for some time now, but it looks like they’re ramping up their interest in the former Arsenal man as he enters the final year of his contract.
The Merseysiders are confident that Gnabry’s asking price will soon be lowered after rejecting numerous contract offers from Bayern, and if he becomes available for a modest fee, the Reds will be ready to swoop.
So, what type of player will Liverpool be getting if they sign Gnabry?
Well, he’s a Champions League-winning Germany international who has even been dubbed as ‘very good’ by Luis Figo. He once scored four goals in a game against Tottenham, and he’s netted double-figures six seasons running in the Bundesliga.
All in all, it’s fair to say that Gnabry is an outstanding footballer, and if the worst case scenario was to occur and Mohamed Salah was to leave the club this summer, Gnabry wouldn’t be a bad replacement by any stretch of the imagination.
